First day of school in Texas! As you can see, Taylor was not real excited, but he is doing very well. The kids are all doing really good. Cydney made the Volleyball team, Jaxon is playing football, and Paityn rides her scooter allover the neighborhood. They love Texas.

Goodbye Fruita Colorado

After ten wonderful years we are moving to Texas. I never thought that Fruita would be home but it truly has. I will always cherish the time that we have spent there. I will miss the trail running and mt. biking. I will miss looking out in the yard and seeing the kids playing on the tramp. I will miss the winters, I know crazy! Most of all I will miss and the amazing people we have grown to love! Goodbye Fruita!

Cydney's soccer team won two tournaments this year. They won the Durango Classic and the Grand Junction Invitational( with a shoot out). Mom's in picture are Lisa and Jill. Cydney really will miss this team.

Spring Baseball 2011

Jaxon played on the Red Sox in little league and made the allstar team. Unfortunately they lost in the championship game in regionals. We had fun going to Cortez though. Jaxon started pitching this year and did really well. The other pictures are Jaxon with his competitive team the Fruita Fury. We had fun playing with them and will truly miss all the boys and their families.

Temple trips! 2009

Cydney went to the temple for the first time in 2009. The first two times she tried to go with the ward they got cancelled because of the weather. Doug decided to take her to Utah and go with her. Grandma Chapman went too! It was really cool. Jaxon and Taylor went with the young men to Salt Lake to go to visit temple square. It was a fun weekend. The young men in Fruita 3rd ward are really great boys. The leaders are awesome too! The Palmers and the Bishop boys are really good to Taylor. Bishop Standifird came as well as many other young men.

Doug turns 40! December 2009

We had a 40th birthday party for Doug. Many good friends came to help us celebrate. The Keiths, Steglmeirs, Quarnbergs, Kohls, Nelsons, Gibbs, Sacketts, Cases and the Bairs. I hope I didn't forget anyone. They all brought gag gifts adding up to the number 40.

Rimrock Marathon 2010

Michelle ran the Rimrock Marathon again this last year(November2010). It was beautiful weather this year. It was so fun to run with friends Suzy, Carla, Heidi, and Darren(as seen in picture), but many others. My kids came and cheered me on. You'd think they'd get sick of it!

Taylor is also growing up. He still get's tired and fell asleep in his Halloween costume on the couch. So cute! He'll always be my little boy. Taylor loves to go bowling. This is Taylor in Mesa Verde on our family vacation this year(march 2011). Taylor went to a prom for special needs kids this year. He loved it. He was able to ride in a limo and get pictures with his friends. Taylor loves our dog Brett.

Jaxon- update!

Doug coached Jaxon in allstars and the Fury team we started. They won a tournament in Glenwood so they all got mohawks. Jaxon played football for the first time in spring 2010. Jaxon's 10th birthday he got a bebee gun.

Liberty Cap Hike

The day before school started we had a family day and went on a hike. Liberty Cap is about 4 miles round trip but very steep. The kids did really well with a few melt downs from Taylor and Paityn. It was worth all the hard work. When you get to the top there is a rock that looks like a baseball cap. The kids are on top of it in the first picture. The view of the whole valley is beautiful.

We Finally Did It!

After years of begging(pardon my pun), we finally broke down and got a dog. His name is Brett. So we now have a dog named Brett and a cat named Favre. Yes we love Brett Favre. Good think Minnesota is doing well! Brett is a Golden Retriever and so far he has been quite expensive. He cost $400. Then you buy all the stuff that goes with him $200. Shots and neutering $230. Paityn's trip to the ER $500(she got bit). So the tally is $1380. I'm sure I won't think of that 5 years from now. He has been fun and the kids love him. Paityn a little too much!

Grandma Beth's funeral

We were invited to go to Lake Powell with the Steghlemeirs in July. We had a great time. Doug got addicted to surfing. Despite getting lost in the dark after picking Doug up from the marina, it was a really fun trip. After searching in the dark for our house boat we gave up and followed a light to shore. There we were met by complete stangers that were very kind and gave us sleeping bags and tents to sleep in. God definately answered my prayers that night. Fun trip!

Bear Lake Summer 2009

We had a great time (as always) at Bear Lake this year. We went to the beach, pickleville playhouse, and hung out with Grandma Chapman. Taylor founds some new friends on the beach!

Paityn played soccer this year for the first time. She was so cute. When she decided to play she did very well. She usually scored about 3 goals a game and sometimes 1 for the other team.

Catarac Canyon. Yea a new post!

Doug and I had a big adventure this last June. We went down Catarac Canyon. It goes from Moab to Lake Powell. It was kind of slow for two days but when we hit the rapids on day three it was so worth it. We hit a rapid called Ben Hur, because if you hit it you "been hurt!!" It's a long story but I will never forget that wave of water coming at me. Doug will never forget the boat in front of us on top of that wave. He thought it was going to come down on top of us. I thought we were goner's! We managed to stay on the boat and everyone came out safely. Here are some of the pictures. We mostly went with complete strangers. We were invited by our good friends the Skalla's. Thanks Skalla's. It was a blast!

Special Olympics and Juco... Taylor

Taylor did Special Olympics swimming this year. It was his first year. He did fantastic. He is a great swimmer. Grandma and Grandpa came to watch. Grandpa bought him a special olympics Windbreaker. He loves it. Becky and DJ came too.
Taylor was able to go on the field at Juco(junior college world series). Juco is really exciting and fun. They honored all the challenger baseball players. He thought it was really cool! When they play baseball they have buddies. Usually players from local high school team or Mesa State. During Juco they get Juco teams to be their buddies. Taylor's buddy was from Howard. They ended up winning Juco so we were really happy.

We can't believe that Taylor is 15 years old. He played a challenger baseball game and then we went to dinner to Outback. Taylor's favorite because he loves cheese fries and steak. The Gibb's came with us to dinner. We had a party with Taylor's friends on Friday night. We are so grateful to all the people who love Taylor!

Not really much to say! I'm Grateful!

I haven't posted lately because not much has been going on. I just wanted to say how grateful I am for a beautiful and healthy family. I know of some acquaintances that have cancer or have died of cancer. I feel so helpless for them, but I know that miracles do happen. As many of you know we have a lot of Cancer in Doug's family. His father died of cancer after a 10 year courageous battle. He didn't have it for all ten years, he was mostly in remission, but he was so strong. He was such a great example of faith to all of us. Doug's brother, Rick, is currently in remission from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. We are so glad he is doing well. I guess my point is that I so admire these brave individuals. It's a tough road! It also makes you grateful for the little bumps in the road that make us stronger. One of my favorite quotes comes from Victor E. Frankel(a holocaust survivor), "that which does not kill us makes us stronger." Even though cancer may be the end of the road for some, like my father in law, these people have touched our lives and made us better! So Thanks! God bless those who are struggling with the disease now. You are in our prayers!

As we do every year we went tubing on Christmas Eve. We had so much fun. We go with the same friends every year and have hot chocalate and snacks. This year we had 3-wheelers so the kids didn't have to hike up the hill. They thought that was great. It was a fun day. Paityn really enjoys the snow but she isn't too sure about sledding down the hill. But she loved jumping and playing in the snow. We've gotten a lot of it here this year.

Doug's birthday is on Christmas and we always forget about it. Even he does. I just want to take the time on this Christmas day to say how grateful I am for him. There are so many reasons why I love my husband of almost 16 years. Wow! I just wanted to write a few down.

You play board games with the kids. You are a fun dad.

We have had a very busy fall. When you are in the middle of all the hectic carpooling, eating hot dogs at the ballpark, and not sure if it's going to be too hot or too cold at the games, you can't wait till it's all over. And then it is! Then you find yourself with all this free time. I find myself missing the soccer, football, baseball, and softball games. We love watching our kids play sports!

I love fall! Riding my bike with friends up the monument or around Fruita's country roads is so beautiful especially this time of year. I'm sad to think I won't be able to ride my bike for months. I love watching the leaves change and the slight chill in the air with the sun shining on your face. The only problem with fall is it goes by too fast and then winter is upon us!

I can't believe that Jaxon is 8 years old and is now baptized. He has always been my little buddy. I love him so much. He is such a good kid. He is highly motivated. He does great at school and in sports, but most of all he so loving. He is caring and kind. We love you Jaxon.

We had a great Halloween. We all dressed up this year. Jaxon and Taylor were Karate dudes! Cydney was a 80's preppy girl. Paityn was Snow White. Doug was Nacho Libre. I was a Jazzercise aerobic teacher. Doug took Cydney, Jaxon and Taylor to a haunted house. They were terrified but they tried to play tough!

Palin Power!!

Sarah Palin came to Grand Junction last night. We decided to go down and listen to her speak. There were 15-20 thousand people there. We were able to shake her hand and meet her family. She was awesome!! She talked to Taylor and of course I started to cry! It was a really cool moment. I wish she was on the top of the ticket.

I love this country and it was really fun to watch the political process. We had a the Gibbs, Bairs, Nelsons, and the Grays there with us.

Jaxon turns 8

Jaxon turned eight this year, so we decided to do one last big birthday bash. We rented a bump and jump and they had a blast!! I don't know where the years have gone. I can't believe the little boy who carried his blankee and sucked his thumb is now 8 years old. We are so proud of Jaxon. He is a great kid!

I can't believe the air the kids were getting. I'm pretty sure they broke all the rules. Were just lucky nobody got hurt. Paityn started to get a little brave herself. Look at the air she got!! She is just crazy!

Wet and Wild Marathon

Well, this was a first! It rained the entire St. George Marathon this year. I just kept thinking, "This was the craziest thing I have ever done." I wore a garbage bag for 20 miles. There were times when I felt like I was going to drown. The wind was bad at times also. With the wind and rain my hair was extremely snarly. Doug said I look like I had dreadlocks. It took a lot of conditioner to get it out. Overall the race was fine. I did a 3:58. I was happy with that time, considering the conditions. I felt good and strong at the end. Andrea and Stephen ran it with me this year. Thanks guys!
It was a fun weekend. The kids had a blast swimming as usual. As we do every year we stopped at the farm in Richfield. Grandpa was making up chores for the kids to do. Jaxon and Cydney got a few driving lessons from Grandpa. I have to make sure I hide my keys to the car now. They had a blast!

Rock Jam 2008

We were able to go to Rock Jam this last weekend. We saw Poison, Survivor, Joan Jett, and Kid Rock. Kid Rock was kind of a disapointment. Really bad language and not that good. Doug loved Poison. Survivor was really good but old! The highlight to me was Joan Jett. She Rocks!! She was cool! She is 48 years old and she looked hot! Awesome entertainer.
We had VIP tickets which is the only way to go. We met up with the Kohls, Harmons, Steglmeirs, and Jolleys which made it a blast. Rock on guys and girls!! I kind of felt like I was in high school again. It was a fun weekend. I put some of the music we heard on mytunes.

Yellowstone 2008

We were invited by friends(the Vorhies) to go to Yellowstone in August and jumped at it. We had a really good time. We stayed in Cabins about 14 miles outside of Yellowstone. We went Mountain Biking and trail running. The kids went swimming in the lake by our cabin. It was really cold. Paityn fell in twice. It was so beautiful there.
One of the highlights was going to firewall and jumping in the river. It was kind of crazy. The water was really fast but warm because the geysers kind of heat the water. It was very adventurous.
Another highlight was going into Yellowstone early in the morning and seeing the smoke from the Geysers.
Jaxon and Cydney were fishing just before we left. Jaxon caught a 21 inch trout on his second cast. We were all surprised. He was surprised but exited.
Yellowstone was really pretty. It was just a nice vacation the end the summer with.

Grandma Beth

We were able to go visit my Grandma Beth this summer. She is living with my uncle and as you can see is getting older. She still has a little spunk left in her though. We don't know how much longer she will be with us, so it is great when we get the chance to go visit her. Paityn didn't quite know what to think of her.

Doug has been called to be the young men's president in our ward. He and some other leaders took the older boys on a five mile hike at 14k feet. It was really hard but they all made it including Curtis Gray. Taylor did really well. He had to keep up with the boys. They had a good time.

The Kids went to the rodeo on Wednsday night with Grandma and Grandpa. I decided to pass on the rodeo and stay home with Paityn. Billy came over with Riley and Taylor really enjoyed seeing them. The kids had fun. Dad and I ran the Speedy Spaniard on the 24th. I didn't brake any records but it was fun. Later we went to the parade and the park. I saw many friends from high school and my kids got irritated every time we stopped to say hi. Jaxon climbed to wall and the other rode the ponies. Paityn screamed but eventually came around and enjoyed the ride. That afternoon we went swimming and the new Payson pool. It was a nice pool. Payson's got it going on!! That night we went to the fireworks. Overall it was a fun day. I'm exhausted!! Doug had to work so I did this all on my own.

River Run!!

We all tried to jump together but I was a little late!! I was scared!! As you can see all the guys went on time. The girls were a little more cautious.

We went down the river from Westwater to Cisco this last Saturday. Now I feel like a true Colorado-n. We had so much fun. Doug only fell out of the boat once. The river is really high this year so the rapids were bigger than normal, I'm told. We also went cliff jumping. It was a little out of my comfort zone, but it was a blast.

We were invited to go boating with friends on the 4th of July. The kids loved riding the tubes and knee boarding. We had fun pic-nick-ing and playing in the water. We were absolutely exhausted when we got home. It was a fun day. Here are some pictures!

She was struggling at the end but kept going and finished strong.

Cydney and I ran the Girls on the Run race together. We had a lot of fun. Before the race I asked her what her strategy was. She said, "start at a slow and steady pace then finish strong." Well, we started and she took off like a bullet from a gun. I just let her go and thought maybe I would catch up to her. I did within a half mile. She did really good until about a half mile left and she died. She walked a little bit and I urged her to finish strong and she did. She beat me!! She did it in under 28 minutes. I was very proud of her. She did great!! It was fun to run with her and coach her.

Boston Marathon!!

We had so much fun in Boston. We went to a Red Sox game. I have to say I am a fan. It was so cool to be at Fenway park. The atmosphere was amazing and so were the fans.
We also hit all the tourist attractions in Boston as well as a few Cemetery's. Doug loved it!! Not really my thing but I gave it a good effort for Doug's sake.
On Sunday morning we went to the women's olympic trials. We were able to see them 6 or 7 times at different points on the route. These women were amazing.
I loved Boston!! It is an awesome city. I think we even mastered the subway. Doug went on a little detour and got lost but he found his way. He's a pro now!!
Thanks to our mom's who watched to kids. We had a great time with the Lynn's and the Barney's too!

There were a lot of inspiring stories at the Boston Marathon. The one that touched my heart was seeing Dick and Rick Hoyt. If you don't know the father and son compete in marathons together. Dick pushes Rick in his wheelchair the whole way. It is very inspiring. Rick loves it and he raises his arms to get the crowd going. I saw them at the expo and I wanted to go say hi and get my picture taken with them but I started to cry and I couldn't. I wish I would have.

Post Marathon by the Sumner statue. This was our meeting place we had discussed all weekend long. It's kind of an inside joke.

My Thank You Speech

I just wanted to take the time to thank all the little people who helped me achieve my goal to run the Boston Marathon. It took me a long time to qualify so I've had a lot of time to think about it. Anyway here we go!!
I'd like to thank(in no paticular order)...
1. The St. George Marathon for those six marathons that really beat me up!
2. My kids for letting me go running and not complaining when I am too tired to do anything!!
3. My mom and Doug's mom for watching my children while we went to Boston. Maybe they will come back after Paityn's five years old.
4. To all the Frunners. Especially Carla and Amy for all those long runs together. We had a good time. I love you!!
5. To John Kohls for getting us first class seats on the plane.
6. To all my family and friends who called to wish me good luck and congratulations! I really know how lucky I am to have you in my life.
7. To Carla, Jill, Betsy, and Suzie for the wonderful foot spa gift!! Awesome!

Boys will be Boys!

Sunday after conference we met friends at the park to play ball and just hang out. It was really fun. The guys are looking fit as always. Andy and Jason have very great abs!! Sorry girls their taken. John Kolhs joined in the fun. We are still wondering when he is going to cut his hair. I'm thinking about doing some kind of countdown or money pool for when he actually does cut it. That would be fun. We love our friends. We have such a good time when we all get together.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. Other than having to speak in church. The whole family!! The kids loved it though. My parents came down from Spanish Fork. We roasted hot dogs at Becky's on Saturday night. Then Sunday we had dinner at Becky's house. Later friends came to our house and we had the annaul easter egg hunt in our yard. It was fun!! The kids had way too much candy. Then Jason Barney suggested we play Annie-I-Over with the kids. Big mistake!! After the second throw, Doug while trying to avoid McKay plowed over Corbin(our nieghbor's boy) and Corbin hit his head on the curbing. He had to go to the Intacare. Anyway, party over!! Thanks Doug and Jason!! But over all it was a great day.

We went skiing over spring break. Paityn wanted to come too!! I think she's missing some essential clothing, but she is so cute. She is always entertaining.

100 Years of U. of Utah Basketball

The University of Utah invited to celebrate 100 years of Utah basketball. It was so fun seeing all the players Doug played with and their families. It seemed like yesterday, that Doug played there. We met the new coach Jim Boylen and Doug snatched some new Utah gear. I love the new coach. He is full of enthusiasm and personality. Our kids had a good time. They just thought everyone was soooo tall. Cydney thought it was cool that we were in the same place that High School Musical 2 was filmed. Yes, Troy Bolton had been there!! She didn't seem to care about all the NBA players but maybe someday she will. It was really fun.

This was Doug's high school basketball coach Craig Hammer and his wife. He also played at the University of Utah. It was fun to see them again.

Greg Barratt used to hang out with me and Doug before his mission!! I don't think we have seem him since he left on his mission. He married one of Doug's high school girlfriends. Shelly is really nice and it was fun to catch up.

A bunch of the players from when Doug played including a few others like Larry Cain, Jeff Johnson, and Nate Althoff.

They took us to our seats through the tunnel. The kids thought that was cool!! I wanted a picture with Walter Watts. He played with Doug's brother Keith. He was remarkably quick for such a big guy!!

The kids were able to go on the floor.

We have been plastered with snow this winter. So much that they canceled school. My kids were so bored they decided to run laps around our house. They did 300!! Paityn joined in yelling, "I'm running!" It was really cute. Needless to say they were really tired that night. I don't know why the picture is sideways. Help!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

We had a wonderful Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve sledding at little Powderhorn. Cydney and Jason got heeleys for Christmas. Taylor got games for his playstation and Wii. Paityn got a playpen for her baby but for some reason she thought it was for her. Christmas day we had breakfast at our house with my sisters and their families. Later we went to Becky's new house and had dinner. On Wednesday we went to Utah and spent time seeing family/friends, shopping and eating a lot!! We are so grateful for all our loved ones. Thanks for making our lives so complete. WE love you!! We are grateful for all our blessings. WE know God has truly watched over us and blessed us with good health and prosperity. Happy New Year!!

Cydney's Concert!

This years Cydney wanted to try out for the Grand Junction Children's Chior. We were a little nervous about her trying out, but she made it and it has been a wonderful experience. She loves it!! She had a concert with the Grand Junction Symphony. Both her Grandmas came to watch as well as the Gibbs, Barneys and Keith's. She also did her first semi solo at church. She sang with her dad!! She did so good. We love her and are so proud of her.

Where has the time gone? I can't believe that she is already two
years old. She has grown so much over this last year.
She is so full of energy!! She loves to play and play and play!!
On occasion she will cuddle with her mom and dad. When she doesn't like what we have to say she usually goes to Cydney. She knows just how to comfort her. Paityn is definitely entertaining and fun, but we both definitely need our naps. Doug took these pictures last Sunday at the Kohls house. She loved to play in the leaves. We love her so much. We had a really fun Halloween. We started by carving pumpkins and decorating cookies on Sunday. Paityn did more eating than decorating. She loved the frosting. Then the kids made scary ghost pictures with Doug's camera. On Tuesday night we took the kids to a haunted house. It was so funny seeing them get scared. Cydney almost cried, Jaxon was tough, and not much fazed Taylor. He did run really fast when the chain saw came after him!! They all did. Halloween we went trick or treating in downtown Fruita. It's fun to see everyone in our community. Paityn wasn't too sure who that goofy looking guy was that came with us(Doug). Then we went to the Keith's house for dinner. After dinner we went to the church and did trunk or treat. We topped off the night with Doug taking the older kids around the neighborhood. Needless to say we have more candy than we can eat for a year!! Good thing we have a dentist in the family. Well, Happy Halloween. We love ya and Miss you.

3 HOURS, 37 MINUTES and 17 SECONDS!!
I ran the St. George Marathon this last Saturday. I had my best marathon time and I qualified for the Boston Marathon in April. I have always wanted to go and do the Boston Marathon. So Boston, here we come!! Doug gets to come too, I guess!!

Cydney and Jaxon's birthdays are so close together that we decided to do a joint birthday party. We took them and some friends and family to Banana's Fun Park here in Grand Junction. It was a fun day. Grandma Erickson was here visiting and she was willing to go on the attractions. She almost fell in the pool on the bumper boats. Good thing she's flexible. The kids also did laser tag and played video games. Paityn had a ball on the kiddie rides. She got green frosting all over her hair. She never seems to stop surprising us. She's always good for a nice picture. I can't believe how quickly time has gone by. Jaxon is 7 years old today. He has grown into such a sweet boy. We love him so much. Cydney will be 10 next Monday. She has blossomed into a young woman. Yikes!! She made the Grand Valley Childrens choir and is enjoying it. It's a nice change from sports.

We went to Bear Lake this year. We love Bear Lake!! It was beautiful. Grandma Chapman was there and Doug's brother Rick's family came also. We played at the beach, went swimming, and went to Pickleville Playhouse.

We went to Lagoon in August. It was Paityn's first time. She wasn't sure about the rides. We couldn't get her to smile until the last ride of the day. Doug's mom came with us to help with Paityn. Taylor wasn't to excited about getting all wet, but we had a great time!!

Rattlesnake Arches

We went hiking to rattlesnake arches. I thought it would be fun to show everyone what is in our backyard(so to speak!). We could see Fruita from the hike. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. It was Kellie's(my sister) birthday so we decided to go 4-wheelen and hiking on her birthday. Some of our friends Carla and John Kohls came with us. My dad even came. My mom was nice enough to stay home with the babies, that's why you don't see Paityn anywhere. We had a wonderful day.

We had a great 4th of July. On July 3rd we went to the fireworks show in Fruita. On the 4th I went for a trail run up Independence Rock which is in the Colorado National Monument. Later that day we went to the Kohls house and went swimming. Then we had a barbeque at the Lynn's house. That night we did fireworks and played games. It was a great day!! Happy 4th of July. We miss you!!

This is what the Chapman family has been up to in the last few months. Taylor played in a baseball league for special needs kids. Every game they have a team come and be their buddies. This game a team from Juco(college world series that is held in Grand Junction every year)were Taylor's buddies. The New Mexico Junior College took 2nd place. Jaxon played two sports this spring. He averages about 10 goals a game in soccer. He loves baseball. Cydney is still playing soccer. She is really talented. She did girls on the run this spring and completed a 5k(3.1 miles). We think that really helped her be in shape for soccer. Paityn is always there watching. She can't wait to get started!!

Hi Everyone,

This is what has been going on in the Chapman household. I guess the biggest news is that Doug has started a new Job. He has left big bad Pharmaceuticals for big bad Oil. He is now working for Halliburton. Yea, sometimes he gets flipped off when he drives his company car. He has been there just over 2 weeks and is liking it so far. It is a big adventure for him. He will need to learn the oil industry so therefore he is working 13 weeks in the field. With the hard hats. After that he will be a sales manager. He is excited.

Everyone else is doing well. Michelle is training for her 7th St. George marathon. She keeps busy selling the Shade Clothing line. Modest clothing for women. I love it!! I meet a lot a good people!!

The kids are doing great. Paityn in really growing up. We can't believe it. Taylor is doing well he made the honor roll 3 times last year. Ha Ha!! He really did. What does that say about our public education? Cydney is growing into a beautiful young woman. She completed a 5k this spring. She loves soccer. She is enjoying her summer break playing the Wii we just bought. Jaxon is my sweetheart. He enjoyed playing baseball this spring even more that soccer. He is growing up. He will start 1st grade this year.
